The songs I can’t get out of my head this month are:
- Hollerado – Juliette, Got to Lose
The high-energy tracks on Hollerado‘s debut album Record in a Bag put me in a good mood. I can’t wait to see them live on June 16th at the Piston with my friends The Order of Good Cheer.
- Said the Whale – The Light is You
A feel good song from the Vancouver based band that makes for the perfect soundtrack to a laid-back summer’s day.
- Hawksley Workman – (The Happiest Day I Know is a) Tokyo Bicycle
A new track from his album Meat!
- The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition
I first heard this song in the movie 500 Days of Summer. It’s infectiously catchy and melodic.
- The Besnard Lakes – Albatross
From The Besnard Lakes Are the Roaring Night, the follow-up to …Are The Dark Horse, which landed the band a Polaris Music Prize nomination.
- CocoRosie – Werewolf
The American-born, Paris-based sister duo make an eclectic blend of music that incorporates elements of pop, hip-hop, blues and opera. This song dates back to 2007… but I just discovered it now.
- BSS – Forced to Love
Forgiveness Rock Record, the band’s highly anticipated fourth album, hits shelves on May 4, 2010. Meanwhile I still can’t get over the fact that of all the concerts, I wound up getting injured (see below) at a Broken Social Scene show. What are the chances?
- A.C. Newman – There Are Maybe Ten or Twelve
Another oldie, posted in anticipation of Together, the new album from The New Pornographers, also due out on May 4, 2010.
